Compare, Organize & Merge Albums with Ease

Do you store backups of your photos on an external hard drive or in the Cloud? Then sooner or later you need to check the copies against your original photos, upload the new images to the backup folder, and make sure there are no duplicate shots there either. Duplicate Photo Cleaner’s Folder Comparison scan mode is perfect for that. With its help, you can check any target folders against a source folder (the folder that contains your original photos) and get rid of the duplicates while keeping the originals protected by the app’s default settings.

To compare albums using the Folder Comparison scan mode, follow these steps:

1. Open Duplicate Photo Cleaner and select Folder Comparison from the scan modes drop-down menu.

   

2. Add the folder with your original photos to the left Include area and the folder(s) where you want to find the duplicates to the right Include area.

   

3. Click on the Start Scan button and wait for the scan to finish. You’ll be presented with a summary screen where you’ll be able to proceed to the next step or save the scan for later use.

   

4. Click on the Go Fix Them button to examine the scan results. The images found in your source folder will be marked with “M”, which stands for master image, and they are automatically protected from accidental deletion.

   

5. Select the duplicates and similars you want to delete. You can use the bulk-selection options or select the files one by one.

   

6. When you’re ready, class on the Delete button to remove all duplicate and similar images from the target folders. Don’t worry, your originals will be kept safe (plus there’s an Undo button to undelete any accidentally deleted images).

   

The Folder Comparison mode will not only bring order to the confusing world of photo albums and backups, but also help you recover lots of free disk space for new shots!
